Arthur Fitzsimons enjoyed a long playing career that started at Shelbourne and included over 200 appearances for Middlesbrough before enjoying spells with Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Crusaders and Drogheda.

Fitzsimons made his Ireland senior debut in a 3-0 win over Finland in Dalymount Park in September 1949. He would go on to earn another 25 caps and score seven goals over a 10-year period.

He sadly passed away on the 9th of May 2018, aged 88.
