Brendan Bradley holds the record for the highest number of goals scored in the League of Ireland with a whopping 235.

The talented striker played most of his football with Finn Harps, having joined them from Derry City for a fee of £100 in 1969, and he helped them win their first trophy at senior level — the Dublin City Cup — during the 1971-72 campaign with Bradley scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Cork Hibs at Dalymount Park.

In July 1972, he joined Lincoln City, a Division 4 side at the time, for a fee of £6,000 but after just one season in England, Bradley returned for a second spell at Finn Harps, re-signing for a fee of £4,000.

In his first full campaign back at Harps, he scored a brace in the FAI Cup final against St Patrick’s Athletic in a 3-1 victory, arguably their greatest achievement to date.

Bradley would also represent and score goals for Athlone Town, and Sligo Rovers before enjoying one last spell with Harps and Derry before retiring in 1986..

He was presented with a Special Merit Award at the FAI International Soccer Awards ceremony in Dublin in 2019 for his outstanding contributions to domestic club football in Ireland.
