Damien Duff became the most expensive Irish player ever when he departed Blackburn Rovers Chelsea for £17million in 2003 and he would win two Premier League titles, the League Cup and the Community Shield with the Londoners.

He would later enjoy stints at Newcastle, Fulham, and Melbourne City, before finishing his career back in Ireland with Shamrock Rovers.

He scored eight goals in 100 caps for Ireland and appeared at both the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2012 while he also enjoyed some great moments underage which earned him his place in the Hall of Fame in 2018.

Duff scored the golden goal which beat Morocco in the second round and also found the net in the playoff victory against Ghana as the 'Malaysian marvels' finished third at the World Youth championships in 1997.
