Gerry Daly represented the Republic of Ireland from 1973 until 1986, earning 48 caps and scoring 13 goals along the way.

Daly won his first caps playing friendlies against Poland, Norway while he was on the books at Manchester United and first goal was a penalty in a 1-1 all draw against England at Wembley in 1976.

He also scored another goal against England in the Euro qualifiers in 1978 as well as netting memorably against Denmark in the Euro qualifiers of 1980 and against the Netherlands in a 2-1 win in a World Cup Qualifier later that year.

Daly's last match for Ireland was against Scotland in 1986 at Lansdowne Road in a Euro 88 qualifying match.
