Joe Haverty began his football career with Home Farm before later playing for St Patrick's Athletic, Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, Celtic, Bristol Rovers, Shelbourne, and Chicago Spurs.

He represented Ireland underage before he won his first full cap at the end of the 1954-55 season for their fixture against Holland.

In total he would play 32 times for Ireland including some memorable outings in the World Cup qualifying campaign between 1956 and 19557, where he featured against Denmark in October 1956 and twice against England the following May.

Sadly, Joe Haverty passed away on the 7th of February 2009, aged 72.
