Katie McCabe was born in Dublin on the 21st of September 1995. Her playing career stated with boy’s clubs Kilnamanagh, and Crumlin United before she joined the girl’s set-up at Templeogue at the age of 10.
As a teenager, she won the Irish Women's National League title twice and the FAI Women's Cup three times with Raheny United - she scored a stunning long-range free-kick in the 2014 final - before signing with Arsenal in 2015.
After struggling with injuries and a lack of first-team playing time with the Gunners she joined Glasgow City on loan in August 2017 for the second half of the Scottish Women's Premier League season and would help them win the Scottish title as well as making a handful of appearances in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She has been an important player for Arsenal ever since.
In March 2015, Susan Ronan gave McCabe a senior Ireland debut against Hungary at the 2015 Istria Cup and in April 2021, she earned her 50th cap in the game against Belgium. She is currently the team’s captain.
