She had stopped playing sports altogether for about two years before Wexford Youths manager John Flood persuaded her to join his side and the rest is history.

Despite a serious back injury - she received medical advice to retire from football - the talented midfielder has still helped her club to four WNL titles and four FAI Cups.

She was recently named the Player of the Year at the 2021 SSE Airtricity Women's National League Awards and has been named in the FAI Women's National League Team of the Season on five occasions.

Murphy was part of the Republic of Ireland women's national under-19 football team during the qualifying rounds of the 2005 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship but never received a senior cap.
