

Paddy Mulligan enjoyed a remarkable playing career which spanned over 17 years between 1963 and 1980, before he managed Galway United and Shelbourne for brief spells.
It was divided between League of Ireland football with Home Farm, Bohemians, and Shamrock Rovers and English football with Chelsea, where he won a UEFA Cup winners Cup, Crystal Palace, and West Bromwich Albion.
During his time at Rovers he won four FAI Cups in a row - part of the club’s six in a row - which helped him to progress onto the international stage claiming 10 caps for the Irish national team, including three as captain, one under-23 cap and six Inter league caps.
The defender was initially called up to the squad in 1966 but didn’t make his debut until 1969 but would then go on to earn 50 caps for Ireland overall, scoring one goal.
