Shay Brennan was born in Manchester on the 6th of May 1937 and sadly passed away on the 9th of June 2000.

He is best known for two things. First was that he was a taletend full back for Manchester United, where he won two league titles and a European Cup, and for Waterford, where he also won two league titles as a player manager, between the years 1957 and 1974.

And second is the fact that despite being born in England, he played internationally for the Republic of Ireland, qualifying through his parentage and became the first Irish international to qualify in this way. He won 19 caps and captained his country on five occasions.
